WINDSOR & Eton bowed out at the hands of Southern League Premier Division leaders Farnbrough as they triumphed 1-0 at Stag Meadow in the second qualifying round on Saturday.

It ended the Royalists' interest in the FA Cup this year at the second qualifying round stage but boss Keith Scott was delighted with their display in the second half.

"I thought our performance second half was absolutely fantastic and top drawer," remarked Scott.

"We did well. They scored after 13 minutes which is disappointing and they were the better side, if they could have put away their half chances it would have been 3-0 and game over.

"Second half we came out and altered our system a bit and we were the better side without a shadow of a doubt. We were getting on top of them.

"I'm disappointed we didn't get a result, we had one cleared off the line, it was a fantastic clearance and we deserved a draw out of the game."

The hosts went close early on when top scorer Michael Chennells failed to finish a Jake Parsons cross but Boro took control of the first half after that.

They grabbed the only goal of the game when Kezie Ibe's shot was too hot to handle for Rob Bullivant and Jack King prodded the rebound home.

Ibe nearly doubled Farnborough's advantage twice before the break when he vlazed over having been released by King and then headed wide.

Windsor started the second half brightly but Chennells was agonisingly close to getting on the end of a Joe Chandiram cross after the wideman had done well to win the ball and substitute Adam Dickens had a shot brilliantly blocked on the line.

As the game went on the visitors could have wrapped it up Orlando Smith released ex-SYCOB striker Bradley Bubb who was forced wide but cut the ball back for Gary Holloway who was denied by Bullivant.

"The atmosphere, the whole day was fantastic, the players should take a lot of confidence from that," said Scott.
