KEITH Scott believes his Windsor & Eton side have come a long way in the last 18 months after they were bitterly disappointed with Saturday's draw against Bridgwater Town.
Heads were down in the dressing room after the 1-1 scoreline but the Royalists remain unbeaten in the league.
"We've come a long way in 18 months since I took over," remarked Scott. "The boys were sitting there very disappointed. It says a lot about the players.
"The biggest problem I faced when I came in was that there was a good core of players but there wasn't a winning mentality. They hurt when they haven't won games now.
"The nucleus of the side was good but what we've done is put together good players and created a winning mentality so all credit to them.
"The club has come a long way in a short space of time and they are a young side and still evolving."
Windsor head into tomorrow's (Saturday's) FA Cup clash at Thamesmead Town in good form but so do the Kent side who are third in the Ryman League Division One North.
"They are at the same level as us and going well," said the boss. "It's away from home and a difficult trip but that's what you expect from the FA Cup. Come Saturday at 5pm we just still want to be in the draw.
"Michael (Chennells) will miss Saturday," confirmed Scott.
"My fears were that he had pulled his hamstring but he didn't, hopefully he will be back for Saturday week. With a hamstring injury you err on the side of caution."
However, there are no new injury doubts and there was good news with Martin Williams on the comeback trail from his knee problem.
"Martin Williams played in the Capital (reserve) League and came through it okay and was at training on Tuesday," commented Scott. "It will be a big plus for us, he is very experienced and a good lad to have around the place."

A winning mentality? I dont call the team choking at the end of both of the last two seasons a winning mentality. We still have some way to go. The play off defeat last season was down to the manager with poor selection and substitutions.
