MAIDENHEAD United kept up their perfect record in pre-season after a 3-2 win against Watford Under-21s at York Road on Saturday.

Sam Barratt gave The Magpies a lead on 32 minutes when going clear of the Watford defence and lobbing the keeper.

Maidenhead suffered an injury blow when Jordan Cox limped off and was replaced by summer signing Charlie Strutton, but the lead was doubled on 55 minutes when Dean Inman nodded home a Barratt free-kick.

Consolation for Watford came via strikes from Alex Jakubiak and Essaid Belkalem in the final seven minutes.

The goals came either side of a finish by Kyran Wiltshire after a break from fellow substitute Oliver McCoy.

Maidenhead are away at Wingate & Finchley on Monday before a visit to York Road from Wycombe Wanderers this Saturday (3pm).

Slough Town finished fourth in the Hendon Invitation Cup after a penalty shoot-out defeat to Farnborough on Saturday was followed by a 3-2 loss against Carshalton Athletic on Sunday.

After a 0-0 draw in normal time, Charlie Moone and Lee Barney were on target in the shoot-out but Gurkan Gokmen hit the post and trialist Charlie Losasso was denied by a save. Farnborough scored all four of their penalty kicks.
