HOLDERS Real Milan have been eliminated from the Ken Gomm Challenge Cup this season after a shock 3-2 defeat against The Swan Burnham on Sunday.

A poor performance from Milan saw them beaten by out-of-form Burnham in the semi-finals tie at George Pitcher Memorial Ground.

The result means Milan will miss out on a second final this season and ends their eight-match unbeaten run. However, Burnham are fully deserved of their place in the final after a great team performance.

The home side started poorly and were a goal behind as early as the fifth minute. Milan fell asleep when a long throw was sent into the box and miss-communication saw Swans forward Anthony Hicks sneak in to open the scoring.

Burnham doubled the advantage moments later and in similar fashion. Milan were poor at the back and switched off, allowing Alfie Clark to get onto the end of a flick to score.

The home side made tactical changes at the break and started to make inroads on the Swans goal in the second-half.

They got a goal back thanks to a stunning strike from Conrad Joseph who hit a dipping 25-yard shot to leave the Burnham keeper rooted to the spot.

Milan were unfortunate not to level the scores when Cheyenne Cripps went through on goal but saw his shot cleared off the line by Dan Hicks.

The hosts kept on pressing and a wonderful ball over the top by Joseph released Cripps, who this time made no mistake as he outpaced the Burnham backline to slot home calmly passed the keeper.

Real Milan were now on the front foot but they could not take advantage and again defensive frailties came back to haunt them when stand-in captain Jack Evans brought down Konor Saunders inside the box. It was a rash challenge and soft penalty award.

Former Milan man Aidan Christian stepped up and saw his effort superbly saved by keeper Hassan Hussain, but they failed to cut out the rebound as it fell to Billy Hart who poked the ball home off the post.

The home side should have been awarded a penalty of their own moments later as a Nadir Shafi shot was blocked by a hand, but referee Nick Mackenzie waved away any protest.

Milan kept on pushing late on but fine defending from Burnham kept them at bay to hold on for the win which sees them reach their second-ever cup final.

Shepherds Hut recorded a win in their penultimate game of the season, winning 1-0 at FC Clewer to remain in seventh spot in the Division Two table.

The only goal of the match arrived when a Luke Fogarty corner was deflected into his own net by a Clewer player at the near post.

The Hut thought they should have been awarded a penalty late on as Jake Quantrill was brought down by the hosts’ keeper inside the box, but the referee Nuno Guerreiro awarded a free-kick outside of the area.

Wheatsheaf Dons are one win away from clinching the Premier Division title after a 4-0 win away at New Windsor Social Club. Lawrie Toombs, Russell Fuller were amongst the goal scorers.

Singha Sabha moved up two places to fifth position in the table following a 3-1 win at reigning champions Wraysbury Bentons.

In Division One, Pinkneys Green moved level on points with Chalvey (WMC) Sports after a 5-2 away win, whilst Maidenhead Nomads and Merrymakers Old Boys drew 2-2.
