SHEPHERDS Hut 2009 suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of fierce rivals Eton Rifles in Division Two on Sunday.

The Hut were unfortunate when a soft penalty was awarded against them when Ollie Doore threw his body on the line only for the ball to hit his hand covering his chest. Eton blasted home the spot-kick.

The Rifles soon doubled the advantage when Doore lost his man and the striker placed the ball in the bottom left-hand corner.

In the second-half, Doore again lost his man during a counter-attacking move. He recovered but toe-poked the ball into the top corner of his own net.

A truly miserable match for Doore was capped off when he conceded a stone-wall penalty, which was dispatched to make it four-nil.

Jack Tyson, Tom Horn and Joe Beglarian all had chances cleared off the line but it was largely a poor performance from Shepherds Hut.

Datchet Village have reached the final of the Bob Smith Trophy after a superb 4-0 home win against Wraysbury Bentons.

After falling behind, Jamie Trueman equalised to give Datchet hope.

The introduction of Jack Mernagh shifted the game in favour of Datchet as he scored 10 minutes after coming on. In doing so becoming one of the club’s youngest goal scorers of all time.

Mernagh then set up Sam Idle for the third goal.

The win sees Datchet remain in second place in the table but now two points behind top-of-the-table Burnham Garibaldi.

Maidenhead Crown have extended their lead at the top of the Thames Valley Division Two table despite being held to a 2-2 draw against FC Swinley of Ascot on Sunday.

The Crown are now eight points clear of the chasing pack though second-placed Datchet Village Reserves, who are still unbeaten in the league, have six matches in hand.

Maidenhead started the match with the right attitude and tempo, and took the lead at Desborough Park after 10 minutes.

Ascot scored an equaliser on the hour mark as a ball was finished from inside the area.

The warning signs were there five minutes before when the visitors had already put the ball in the back of the net, but the referee deemed it offside.

With 87 minutes played, a ball into the box found an unmarked Charlie Evans who, under pressure, slotted the ball past the Ascot keeper.

But, with the last kick of the game, the away team scored the equaliser. Another cross from the right was not dealt with an ended up being a simple tap in for a midfielder.
