Windsor keep pressure on Marlow

WINDSOR CC thumped Hayes by 144 runs last weekend in a game that saw debutante Adam Turner hit 74 unbeaten runs to spectacularly announce himself on the club cricket scene.
The home side got off to a fine start with the openers looking comfortable, steering the score past 50.
However, their departures triggered a collapse with wickets being lost at regular intervals. With the score languishing on 120-6, it was left to Ben Harris to aid Turner in what was a courageous recovery job.
All-rounder Harris more than played his part, helping Turner rescue the innings with an equally belligerent 64, laying the foundations for Windsor's respectable total of 228-7.
The middle-order collapse would have disappointed captain Adam Weston, but with two 19-year-olds in his team he was happy with the performance: '"We went into the game expecting the win, but to be honest we looked in trouble half-way through.
"Adam coming in at number seven was under pressure but he did brilliantly, as did Ben Harris. We felt we could defend most scores but 228 was excellent from where we were."
The second-half of the game contained none of the trials and tribulations of Windsor's innings as Hayes stumbled to 84 all out inside 40 overs.
Wes Nichols was the star for the home side with four wickets, ably supported by some fine bowling from Chris Kellard.
North Maidenhead are up next for Weston's side and he is looking to heap more pressure on leader's Marlow.
"North Maidenhead beat us last time so we're looking to turn the tables," Weston said.
"It would be massive if we could pick up five points on Marlow and they've got a tough game against Eversley so hopefully we can get closer to them."
