Berkshire girls lose unbeaten tag

BERKSHIRE COUNTY U13 GIRLS cricket team had mixed results at last week's 8-a-side Cricket Festival at Beaconsfield CC.
The side were previously unbeaten this year but lost their opening group matches to Buckinghamshire and Sufforlk. However, they returned to winning ways in their final match against Buckinghamshire 2nd's.
Ashleigh Mullitt and Sophie Castle, playing in her first game for the county, took a wicket each to restrick ECB National Competition South Division winners Buckinghamshire to 56 in the opening match.
In response Berkshire were restricted to 49-3 with Khadjar Wapar top scoring with nine.
Berkshire won the toss and elected to bat first against Suffolk and posted 52-4. Sophie Castle and Emman Walker were the pick of the batting with 13 and 11 respectively.
In their final game, captain Colette Bell (26*) and Mullitt (23) helped Berkshire reach 82-2, the highest total by any county during the festival.
Despite a galiant reply Buckinghamshire could only reach 54 for the loss on one wicket.
