WINDSOR skipper Wes Nichols fears his side will have to win all four remaining games to avoid relegation from Division One.

Windsor lost a crucial basement battle against fellow strugglers Thatcham Town last weekend to leave them propping up the table.

They made only 133-9 from their 52 overs which Thatcham easily chased down to win by six wickets.

And Nichols admitted: “Saturday wasn’t the best, every game from now is massive.

“We’re dead last and, with Maidenhead and Bray beating Burnham, the onus is on us to win every game from here.

“The table doesn’t lie, we’ll finish where we deserve to finish. It would be great to stay up but, if not, we will take stock and look at how we can improve as a club.”

Windsor’s batting was lacklustre again and they limped to 133-9, with Arrie Vandermerwe making 59.

In their defence, they were up against a Thatcham attack containing former Pakistan Test player Ali Naqvi who snared 5-59.

And Naqvi then showed his class with the bat, hitting 53 not out to ease Thatcham home on 134-4 in the 35th over to boost their survival hopes.

Windsor, meanwhile, have another must-win clash at Wokingham this weekend and Nichols added: “It’s very close down the bottom and we’re not completely out of it.

“There is no easy escape route for any of the bottom four team but we need to improve on our performances.

“We were effectively beaten by Ali Naqvi last weekend, but Wokingham also have Sathpath Kelum who played first-class cricket in Sri Lanka so we’ve got to keep him quiet.”

Windsor will call up promising seamer Michael Chambers to replace Wes Vandenberg for the crucial clash.
