DATCHET skipper Nick Tilley was left frustrated after his side were held to a draw by North Maidenhead.

Datchet got off to a flier on their home turf setting an imposing target of 310 for the loss of just four wickets.

The hosts put on an impressive batting performance with four of the top five batsmen reaching half centuries but it was not enough to see off Maidenhead who put in some stubborn resistance to finish at 181-9.

Tilley's side had the better of the draw picking up 15 points from the game and they retain a slender one point advantage in Division 2a over rivals Eversley who they beat last week.

Tilley (89) and Kyrgiakos Flouditis (50) put on an opening stand of 139 to set the ball rolling while Tom Jones added 87 and Adam Jones made 56 not out. Tilley was understandably pleased with his side's batting performance but was frustrated by Maidenhead's defensive tactics in chasing the runs.

He said: "All of the top five batted really well. We set them quite an imposing target. Maybe we should have declared earlier but we were aware of Tom Fray and the runs he can get. We didn't want to give them an easy run chase.

"From the outset they didn't look all that keen on chasing it down. They lost a couple of wickets and set their stall out not to go for it.

"We had our opportunities and we bowled pretty well but we couldn't get that last wicket which was frustrating."

Maidenhead's Tom Fray starred with the bat once again to reach 52 along with Wasim Ahmed's 51 not out. Maidenhead were cautious chasing the runs but managed to hang on for six points in the draw.

Datchet travel to Marlow on Saturday, who lie fourth from bottom. Tilley commented: "I think they are one of the better sides in the league but haven't got the results this year. We won't under estimate them."
