Ben Harris was amongst the wickets

WINDSOR captain Wes Nichols says inexperience and injuries cost his side as they finished dead level with High Wycombe 2nds in Division One.

Both sides ended on 186 runs apiece in a tie that leaves Windsor fourth from bottom.

Nichols' side looked to be in the driving seat, needing 21 runs off the last three overs but they were hampered throughout the innings with injuries to key players and fell just short.

Chris George (groin), Arrie Van Der Merwe, Oliver Birch (hamstring) and Rahul Mohindru (hip) succumbed to injuries during Wycombe's innings but were able to soldier on in the field.

Windsor's Ben Harris tormented the home side's batters taking seven of his side's eight wickets for 71 runs. His skipper was pleased with his performance and the bowling in general, commenting: "Ben bowled 20 overs straight and he more than held his own. He's a big player for us."

Matt Lance (55) was Wycombe's notable performer with the bat reaching his half century.

Skipper Nichols said: "We probably should have won the game. We are learning from every close game. We are not the most experienced cricket team."

He added: "We didn't handle the pressure very well, we need to get better at doing that. Our inexperience really cost us."

Looking to the injuries his side suffered, Nichols said: "We are not getting much luck. Three batted in the field and we had four guys who couldn't run."

Adam Weston (58) and Wes VanDenBurg (54) laid the foundations for Windsor with a 112 opening partnership. They got runs on the board quickly and had six wickets in hand to reach the 186 mark but only managed to match the total with one wicket in hand.

Windsor travel to Cove hoping their luck will turn around on Saturday.
