Vishal Arjan was in the runs for Bray

MAIDENHEAD & Bray skipper Ryan Bezuidenhout is looking forward to their clash with title chasing Burnham on Saturday and is "quietly confident".

On the back of their winning draw against Wokingham in Division One of the Thames Valley League and improved performances of late, the Bray outfit are looking forward to their clash with second placed Burnham.

Bezuidenhout commented: "A few of the guys play in the Asain League on Sundays and the mind games have started.

"At the end of the day we don't rely on one player and if everybody chips in then we are quietly confident and looking forward to it.

"I am happy at the moment, we should have won the first couple of games but didn't. Since then we've spoken about the basics and stuck to them, if we do that then we will be alright."

Maidenhead & Bray won the toss and batted first in a match reduced to 70 overs and in their 37 overs, they racked up 196-6 with opener Vishal Arjan top scoring with 56. He received good support from Sharoze Raja (30) and Najeeb Bashir (42).

Sampath Kalum, with first class experience from Sri Lanka, took 2-44 and Greg Smith picked up 2-31 for Wokingham.

The hosts made a good start with the ball as they reduced Wokingham to 32-3 but a 114 run partnership between Adam England (68) and captain Rukshan Soza (45) changed matters although when it was broken, Bray looked on for the win but ran out of overs as the visitors finished on 153-7 off 33 overs.

"It was a good effort from us with the bat considering the three games when we couldn't make 200," said Bezuidenhout. "We were much better with the bat, Vish Arjan batted really well.

"At the halfway stage I was pretty happy with a decent total and we got a couple of early wickets but then they had a 100 partnership and our score didn't look that good at that point.

"Once we broke it and got into them they just closed down which was disappointing.

"The way we batted was a hell of an improvement though and we are still fifth so I am happy."
