WINDSOR won their first game in Division One in convincing style at neighbours Maidenhead & Bray on Saturday.

The hosts won the toss and chose to bat but only posted 200-7 as the spinners did the damage for Windsor, especially Rahul Mohindru who took 5-70.

With Ollie Birch (84) and Wes Van Den Berg (77) to the fore, Windsor knocked off the runs with ease thanks to a 171 run opening partnership as they finished on 202-5 in the end.

What made the result even more impressive was the fact that Windsor were without three of their top players, including skipper Wes Nichols who commented: "It was good to break the duck.

"It was a tough week for us because I had to pull out on Friday as my wife had emergency surgery (which she is recovering well from) and Arrie Van Der Merwe and Bevan Malloch were missing.

"We were without three top players but it shows the depth that we've got at Windsor to win well.

"We went there with a game plan. The win was set up by Rahul Mohindru and Benny Harris. In a friendly we saw their batting liked the ball coming on to the bat so we made them put the pace on the ball.

"To restrict them to 200 was a tremendous performance on that track, it was an absolute belter. We showed that as we lost our first wicket at 171."

Windsor face the very tough test of Amersham on Saturday who have started with two impressive wins from two matches.

"We've got a little bit of confidence now after our first win and we are hoping to continue that," commented Nichols.

"I will be available this weekend as will Arrie but Bevo will be three or four weeks away."
