AN UNLIKELY victory was recorded by Maidenhead & Bray over previous leaders Thatcham Town to ease the threat of relegation.
The 25 point win meant that the Bray side have all but guaranteed their place in the division as they are 21 points clear of third bottom North Maidenhead so as long as they avoid a heavy defeat at rock bottom Tring Park twos they will survive no matter what the other teams around them do.
In their first year in the top flight of the Thames Valley League following successive promotions, Maidenhead & Bray have done well after a sticky start.
Thatcham inserted their hosts who managed to get past the magical 200 as they finished their 52 overs on 205-9 with Najeeb Bashir (65) top scoring.
