WINDSOR'S promotion push has come to fruition earlier than expected after they secured the Thames Valley League Division 2a on Saturday.

With inspirational skipper Wes Nichols at the helm, the club have turned round their fortunes and dominated the division this campaign.

The leader has demanded high standards throughout the season, always looking for more from his charges who have delivered.

"We've been by far and away the best team in the league this year with daylight second," commneted Nichols.

"We've put in quite a bit of work," explained the captain. "It feels relieving, very satisfying.

"It was always the goal for us, probably next year or the year after but it's happened one or two years early but that is the deal with the training methods we've put in place.

"It is a proper cricket club now rather than a social one," stated Nichols. "We've got some proper young cricketers coming through.

"Training is compulsory for first and second teamers. There is an emphasis on becoming better cricketers, better first team players."

Apart from the all-round displays of Nichols, his team-mates have also come to the party this year with young off-spinner Ben Harris a revelation and Tom Hartridge picking up wickets before his broken finger and they have been by far the best bowling attack in the division that has blown everyone away.
