DESPITE sitting pretty at the top of Thames Valley League Division 2a, Windsor skipper Wes Nichols is not taking anything for granted.
The Home Park side are 38 points clear of local rivals Datchet who thrashed Windsor recently but have been inconsistent with Basingstoke & North Hants' second XI, Beaconsfield's second XI and Finchampstead's second XI in hot pursuit.
Windsor chalked up their sixth 25 point win on Saturday against Chiswick & Latymer and have one of the most devastating bowling attacks in the league but Nichols remains cautious. He said: "I'm not counting my chickens before they've hatched.
"We need to keep winning, I won't think we've won the league until it is mathematically certain.
"You've got Datchet, Basingstoke and Beaconsfield and they will all fancy their chances if they keep winning. It won't be decided for a while."
Next up for Windsor is a home match against Eversley on Saturday who are fresh from defeating third place Basingstoke.
Nichols added: "They are a good side but they rely on a couple of guys up top. I don't think they've got the depth of batting of the other sides but their bowling attack is good and will be a test for our batsman."
Last time Windsor played Eversley they knocked them over for just 89 so they will be looking to bounce back from the heavy defeat earlier in the campaign.
Eversley skipper Ben Saville says his side are heading into Saturday's clash against top of the table Windsor full of confidence.
In the past two weeks Saville's side have come up against the teams sitting second and third in Division 2a, and taken 45 points.
Wins over Datchet and Basingstoke have seen Eversley roar up the table in the past fortnight and Saturday's trip to Windsor now holds no fear for the skipper.
He said: "Everyone is buzzing at the moment, we're playing really well at the moment.
"In the last two weeks we've beaten Datchet and Basingstoke. They were excellent wins against the teams second and third so our confidence is high.
"We've got Windsor this week who are top but we'll go over there thinking we can win."
Saville added: "They hammered us last time we played them so we know they are a very good side.
"But batting is not their strong point, they tend to rely a bit on their bowlers.
"So if our batters can get some runs we will hopefully be able to put them under some pressure with the ball."
