THE best batting line up takes on the most fearsome bowling attack as Datchet host local rivals Windsor tomorrow (Saturday) in the Thames Valley League Division 2a.
Datchet are traditionally strong with the bat and their talisman, Tim Alldis is widely regarded as one of the best in the league, however, they will have their work cut out at the Wally Gage Memorial Ground when league leaders, Windsor roll into town.
'It should be a great game,' said Windsor captain Wes Nichols.
'You could say that they are the best batting team in the comp and we are probably the best bowling team.
'It should be interesting to see the two of us lock horns.
'They"ve got some dangerous players, the obvious one is Tim Alldis. He is the best bat in the comp but you cannot concentrate on him when you"ve got batsmen of the calibre of Tom Jones, who scored 150 the other week, Nick Tilley, Mark George and Arun Oram.
'They are an exceptional batting side and complement that with some reasonable bowling in Andy Dick and I"m surprised where they are in the ladder.
'I would have thought they would be where we are and we would be where they are,' added Nichols.
Datchet will be looking to bounce back from a defeat at Basingstoke & North Hants" second XI and there would be no better team to do it against than you local rivals and league leaders.
Skipper Tilley remarked: 'I"m looking forward to it.
'We always enjoy playing Windsor, they are usually interesting games, they are a decent side and have good players like Wes and the spinner, Ben Harris. I like playing against Wes - it"s entertaining.'
