DATCHET have recorded their first win of the season by beating Amersham by eight wickets at the Wally Gage Memorial Ground on Saturday.

Having won the toss, Amersham elected to bat first but were all out for 155 in 48.2 overs. Number nine Stuart Rogers top-scored with 61, with Maduka Liyanapathiranage (18), skipper Andrew Viney (16) and Max John (12) also reaching double figures.

Chris Peploe (3-24) and Tom Lambert (3-27) were the pick of the Datchet bowlers, with wickets also falling to Jarryd Wallace (2-40) and Oliver Smithson (1-31).

The hosts closed on 159-2 in 43 overs for the victory and thanks to an opening stand of 106 between Max Stevenson (41) and leading scorer Lewis Smith (54). Joseph Thomas finished unbeaten on 41.

Liyanapathiranage (1-23) and Christopher Owen (1-39) were the only Amersham bowlers to take a wicket.

The win sees Datchet move out of the relegation places and up to eighth in Home Counties Division Two ahead of a trip to bottom of the table Great Brickhill this Saturday.

In the Thames Valley League, Datchet 2s won by three wickets at Chenies & Latimer to go fourth in Division 3B.

Datchet won the toss and chose to bowl first, dismissing the home side for 181 after 46 overs. All four bowlers used took wickets with Jack Jones (3-26) and Calum Edgar (3-56) fairing best.

Andrew Chapman top-scored for Chenies & Latimer with his unbeaten 42, while Mike Pickard and Vidurath Mayadunne both made 31.

The visitors closed on 182-7 in 40 overs for the win with opener Mark George (59) and skipper Tom Jones (36) the top batsman.

Rauri Bowen led the bowling attack with his 3-38. He was backed up by Callum McIlveen (2-48) and Krishaan Chudasama (2-29).

Datchet welcome Amersham 2s this Saturday.

In Division 6A, Datchet 3s beat Eastcote 4s by 39 runs at home as Vinod Kumar hit 24 runs before Peter Brant (3-6) and Amandeep Dhinsa (3-20) took three wickets.
