WINDSOR, Slough, Eton & Hounslow AC rounded up an excellent cross country season with more success in the inaugural South of England Cross Country Relays at Wormwood Scrubs on Saturday.
There were silver medals for the Under-13 Girls team.
Young Eugenie Cockle led off for the WSEH AC A team bringing them home in third place in 7 minutes 52 seconds. Evie Higton moved the club into second place on the second leg with her 8.14, and this position was consolidated by Kathryn Ditton (8.03) on the final leg.
Encouragingly, two of the three were in the first year of the age group, boding well for next season. The B team of Tabitha Davey, Sam Bonny and Megan Rowe were 19th.
Bronze medals fell to the Under-20 Mens team. Khalid Al Abraidy led off with fourth place in 11.24m and Nathan Ditton maintained this position with 11.37. Cameron Smart on the final leg excelled to move into the bronze medal position with his 11.29. For the B team, Petru Snaipur clocked 11.41 and Jack Philp 11.54.
There were also bronze awards for the Under-15 Girls. Emily Reeves set the trend with her third place on the opening leg with 7.51. Caitlin Critchley held the fort with her 8.27, leaving Abbie Schmid to produce perhaps her best ever run to maintain third in 8.37.
The Under-17 men were just out of the medals in fourth spot. Ben Kennard had a good opening leg to come home second in 11.30. Jonny Dry lost ground to fourth on the second leg with 12.30, and though Zac Curran gave chase with his 11.49, the medal spot just eluded them.
The B team of James Tidd, Ollie Garner and Gari Brown were ninth.
The Under-15 Boys looked to be in with a medal chance at one stage. Greg Baynham had brought the team home in 10th place on the first leg in 7.14. Jack Rowe stormed through to fourth on the second leg in 6.50 but although Charlie Critchley ran the fastest time of the trio in 6.47, the team had to settle for fifth place.
The B team were 12th thanks to John Bowden, Henry Suggitt and Dan Dry. The C team of Tom Coe, Sammy King and Rob Hall finished in 16th.
The Under-13 Boys team were 13th - Max O'Neill opened with 7.54, Sam Critchley clocked 8.27 and twin brother Harry Critchley 8.01. There was an incomplete B team with just George Frise and Simon Cornwell representing WSEH.
