Lake displays potential

MORGAN Lake underlined her potential as one of the top young athletes in the country with an outstanding display at the National Indoor Championships in Birmingham last weekend.
The 14-year-old Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow Athletics Club star completed a superb medal haul by landing three titles at the prestigious event.
Lake began the weekend by setting a new personal best time of 9.10 seconds to win the 60 metre hurdles in the Under 15s category.
Her next event was the long jump and she excelled again with an enormous leap of 5.48m which was easily enough to take first place by some distance from her nearest rival.
And Lake completed the triple set by adding the high jump title to her earlier successes. She produced a stunning jump to clear 1.71m which no-one else could match.
Lake, who is coached by dad Eldon, now boasts an impressive six national titles to her name. She is also the national outdoor champion in her age group at pentathlon, long jump and high jump.
Lake's achievements capped an excellent tournament for the WSEH club who picked up three more medals along the way.
Sophie Papps claimed silver in the 60m at Under 17 level with a time of 7.65 secs.
Jivendra Singh ran a personal best time of 2.02 minutes to land silver in the boys Under 15 800m race.
Ross Franks also earned a podium place with bronze in the 1,500m at Under 20 level after setting a new personal best of 3.56.53 mins.
Meanwhile, just out of the medals were Laura Burke who came fourth in the Under 20 400m with a time of 56.59 secs.
Max Dorey also finished fourth in the Under 15 60m hurdles in a time of 9.03 secs.
Next Sunday WSEH hold the last in their winter indoor series at Thames Valley Athletics Centre, starting at 1pm.
