Massive medal haul
Athletics
WINDSOR, Slough, Eton & Hounslow Athletics Club emerged from the final round of the Apex Sports Chiltern Cross Country League series with their largest ever haul of medals from this well established competition.
Overall individual golds were gained by Alex Goodall (Under 17), Marina Stedman (Veteran 40), Becca Croft (U15) and Eugenie Cockle (U11) with team golds accruing in the U20 and U17 men's, U15 girls, U13 girls, U11 girls and team silvers in the U15 and U11 boys.
Third-placed medals were secured by the senior ladies while the U17 ladies just missed out on an award in fourth position.
The only other categories where they missed out on awards were the Senior Men (7th) and the U13 boys (6th).
Under 20 athlete Nathan Ditton produced the best performance in his category finishing in 20th place and was closely followed by Simon Millett in 23rd.
Other competitors included Jack Philp (48th), WSEH veteran Dave Huck (105th) and stalwart veteran Wal Wessely (140th).
A confident Alex Goodall was a worthy winner of the U17 boys race, with Ben Kennard bouncing back to form in 5th place, helping to win the team gold.
Charlie Critchley enjoyed his best cross-country run this series with his third-placed finish for the U15 boys. Team-mate Jack Rowe finished just behind with Greg Baynham also improving to 14th and the team being completed by Will Brennan in 32nd. The quartet won silver for their efforts behind Bedford & County AC.
A depleted U13 boys team was made up of Harry Critchley (18th), Jack Davies (25th) and Sam Critchley (30th), who finished sixth overall.
Silver medals were awarded to the U11 boys team of Harrison Porter (12th), Dan Brookling (15th), Jack Jesty (18th) and newcomer H.Martin in 27th.
Charlotte Firth led the senior ladies home to a bronze medal, finishing in third place - her best run of the series. Daniella Barnes also produced her best effort with eighth place while veteran and ex-international Marina Stedman next home in 13th, which was enough to earn her an individual gold medal in her racing category. Leigh James completed the team effort in 25th spot.
Maryse Haynes once again headed the WSEH U20/U17 ladies team with her fifth place, with Emma Croft in 10th, Alice Wills in 14th and Emily Wilkinson in 20th place.
Becca Croft reigned supreme for the U15 girls, ploughing a lone furrow at the front, eventually winning by nearly half a minute from her nearest rival and deservedly taking the gold medal. Emma Reeves, Mary Alice Davison and Ellie Wallis, in 9th, helped the team come first in their category.
Other WSEH finishers were Caitlin Critchley, Kirsty Marshall, Izzie Fernandez, Rebecca Riches, Carla Stangroom and Abbie Schmid.
WSEH again had a large contingent in U13 girls race with Alex Barbour leading the way in fourth. Kathryn Ditton had her usual solid run in seventh, with the improving Sophie Davies just behind and Nancy Scott completing the team in 15th position.
Eugenie Cockle continued her dominance of the U11 age group with another fine victory. Anna Croft finished an inspired third, with Tara DeKlerk completing the team line-up.
