THE youth team of the Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow (WSEH) AC have qualified for the National Young Athletes League Main Final in Manchester.
In the area final two weeks ago WSEH AC were given third place thus only qualifying for the less important Auxiliary final. However, it became apparent that the team were robbed of 50 points due to technical problems on the day and were soon after moved up to second place - given the corrected points, qualifying for the main final.
Two years ago WSEH AC won the final and with a full strength squad could well repeat that display on September 5.
WSEH Boys Young Athletes team won again in the home fixture of the Alder Valley Boys League series and with one match remaining look to retain their number one spot and win the league title.
In the under-17s Kamoal MacRae gave a notable performance as he dominated the sprints taking both the 100m and the 200m. There proved to be many more second place finishes for the rest of the team as Luke Holmes came runner-up in both the triple jump and the long jump.
Substitute discus throwers Kyle Kavanagh and Moshin Arif both followed suit with second place finishes. Ryan Horner came second in the A string and teammate Morgan Jury won the B string.
The hammer produced similar results with Ian Botting second in the A string and Callum Marshall winning the B.
The WSEH sprinters also fared well in the U15s with Kuzi Ndewere finishing second in A string 100m and Callum Blackburn winning the B. Max Dorey powered to the top of the rankings with a personal best time 12.7 seconds in the 80m hurdles.
There were double first places for Taylor Campbell and Cameron Crawford in both the shotput and hammer.
Sean Rafique and Rob Page both destroyed the field winning the A and B string 100m and 200m races with personal best times. Will Dorey won the B string 80m hurdles in a personal best time.
The home fixture was rounded off as all of the 4x100m relay races were won by WSEH in all three age groups.
Morgan Lake continued to turn the heads with a fine victory in the U15 Pentathlon at the England Athletics Combined Events Championship in Stoke over the weekend.
She set a new UK record with a exceptional points tally of 3,676 smashing the old record by over 50 points. Lake’s win was assisted by setting new personal bests in the long jump and 75m hurdles.
Fellow WSEH athlete Ellie Rayer was fifth out of the 28 competitors setting four new personal bests.
