Ladies claim third

THE Ladies of Windsor, Slough, Eton, and Hounslow Athletics Club are celebrating a successful end to the 2010 UK Women's National League after they confirmed third last weekend.

Beating Trafford for third place by two points during the final meeting of the season at the Thames Valley Athletics Centre meant WSEH finished behind winners Manchester and runners-up Birchfield for the 2010 campaign.

Helen Pryer finished runner-up in the 200m in a time of 23.95 seconds and third in the A string 100m in a season's best time of 11.80.

In the B string 100m, 17-year-old English Schools silver medallist Georgia Lamothe impressed with her calm approach. In an close run race she powered through to win in a time of 12.16.

New Zealand international Monique Williams showed that she will be going into the Commonwealth Games in great form by powering to victory in the 200m B string event in a time of 23.66.

Dawn Hunt and Shelayna Oskan finished first and second in the 400m recording 54.82 and 55.29 respectively.

Elsewhere on the track, Emily Parker finished third in the A string 400m hurdles in a time of 59.84, whilst Emily Barrett finished third in the B string recording 1.4.26.

Out in the field, in-form Jenny Pacey (A) and Sarah Wellstead (B) were successful in the long jump registering leaps of 5.13m and 6.01m respectively.

Irie Hill, WSEH's successful masters athlete, flew in from Germany and pole vaulted her way to third with a jump of 3.70m.

The best results of the meeting came in the relay where both the 4x100m and 4x400m teams were victorious.

Pryer, Williams, Livingstone and Lamothe recorded 46.98 to win the 4x100m, while Emma Paton, McGawn, Oskan and Hunt won the 4x400m in a time of 3.44.32, a season's best.
