Champs crowned for WSEH

WINDSOR, Slough, Eton & Hounslow athletes claimed glory at the South of England AA Championships.

The under-17 and under-15s at Ashford, Kent over the weekend and emerged with two Southern champions plus several others making the medal rostrum.

Morgan Lake contested three events with her Southern title coming in the U15 long jump with a leap of 5.47m. She also claimed a bronze in the high jump with 1.65m and was just out of the medals in the 75m hurdles where she was fourth in 12.06.

Cameron Crawford, currently topping the National Ranking Lists, had a scare in the under-15 discus with two fouls in his opening throws before his form shone through and he claimed the Southern title with 44.51m.

National Indoor Champion Stephanie Clitheroe this time had to settle for third in the U15 75m hurdles with her 11.8. Sam Maguire was similarly placed in the U17 100 hurdles in 13.81 after suffering a disqualification in his now favoured event, the 400m hurdles.

A below form Charlie Smith was still good enough to secure bronze in the U17 pole vault with 4.20m.

Shalisha Patrick was however on song in the under-17 100 taking the silver medal in 12.30. Another to grab a silver was Taylor Campbell in the U15 hammer with his 55.14m effort. Zac Curran had to run a personal best of 1.54.8 to claim his silver in the U17 800m.

Just out of the medal hunt with fourth places were Becca Croft in the U15 1,500m in 4.47.83, Gabriella Zivanovic with 8.65m in the U15 shot and Hannah Johnson in the U17 javelin with 36.46m.
