The Windsor Slough Eton and Hounslow (WSEH) ladies started the Southern Women's League on a winning note at Ipswich on Saturday.

Their score of 179.5 points was a massive 40.5 clear of second placed Stevenage, putting the team third in the initial league rankings.

In the girls section Gabi Zivanivic won the discus (25.25m) and came second in the javelin (22.61m) and shot put (8.87m).

Olivia Caesar, Zoe Toudup and Steph Clitheroe took two victories and two runners up slots in the sprints, with Clitheroe running a season's best 13.0s in the 100m.

Similarly, Sophie Street and Emily Haberfield took a double victory in the 800m while Rebecca Riches and Ellie Wallis came first and second in the 1500m. There was another double victory in the 75m hurdles with Clitheroe taking the 'A' race and Emma Roberts the 'B' in a new PB.

Demi Barrance finished a strong second in her debut race in the under 17 hurdles in a SB time of 13.1s. The seniors produced some great performances as Georgia Lamothe and Michelle Warren won their 100m sprints, Lamothe and Harriet Shurley took the 200m, Sophie Purkis and Warren took the 400m and Bex Myers and Lois Bond the 800m.

Shurley produced a PB to take the A string 100m hurdles in 15.9s while Carol Heaney came second in B in 19.0s.

Top club throwers Bola Ogun and Rachel Wallader both won their events. The girls 4x100m relay team took second in an exciting race while the seniors achieved convincing wins in both the 4x100 and 4x400m.

The WSEH AC Boys team opened their Alder Valley League challenge with a comfortable victory in their home match on Sunday.

The performance of the day came from Charlie Smith in the U17 pole vault where he annihilated the existing league record of 3.40m with a fantastic 4.40m that takes him to the top of the national rankings. He added to that with victory in the triple jump with 12.01m.

New signing Foluke Blackett scorched to a win in the 100m in a new best of 11.3s. Lewis Bridges (24.3) and Ryan Wicks (24.6) ensured maximum points in the 200m while Zac Curran excelled in the 400m (51.9s) and 800m (1.59.0) and Ricky Harvie (4.18.0) and Jonny Dry (4.37.9) dominated the 1500m.

There were more PBs in the throws as Morgan Jury threw 44.93m in the javelin and Ryan Horner 39.29m.

Cameron Crawford had a field day in the U15 age group winning the hammer (25.24m), the shot (11.38m) and the discus (28.46m) while Greg Baynham (2.20.2) and Henry Suggitt (2.56.6) delivered in the 800m. Crawford was well supported by Gurlal Randhawa who won the B hammer (23.84m) and discus (28.16m).

The U13 age group saw the emergence of Sean Rafique who won the 100m (13.2s) and 200m (28.3s) in PBs.

George Bourne coasted to victory in the 1500m in 5m6.4 while Tom Spellman was victorious in the long jump with a PB of 4.11m. Best of the throws came from newcomer Billy Webb, who came second in the shot with 5.79m. There were relay wins for the U17 squad of Blackett, Bridges, MaCrae and Wicks in 47.1s and for the U13 team of Delza Brown, Will Dorey, Rafique and Bourne in 59.6s.
