A RECORD was achieved by a Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow athlete in the first part of the South of England Indoor Championships at the Lee Valley Stadium, London on Sunday.

The WSEH athletes claimed two gold medals, a silver and a bronze but the meeting record fell to Dawn Hunt in the senior ladies 400m where she smashed the existing record by over half a second with her time of 54.85 seconds.

Nigel Levine made it a senior 400m double when he coasted through with wins in his heat and semi-final to win gold in the final, again with well over a half a second advantage over his chasers.

The silver medal came in the under-20 womens 400m where WSEH had two finalists in training partners Laura Burke and Emily Barrett. It was Burke that took the honours with her second place in 58.18 with Barrett fifth in 1.01.76.

The surprise medal came in the under-15 girls 800m where Jo Fallon took the bronze award with her time of 2.31.9.

Of the other WSEH athletes on display, Connor Vine was fourth in his heat of the under-20 800m, with Zac Curran third in his heat of the under-17 800m.

WSEH had two of it's multi-eventers, Matt George and Ashley Bryant, in action in Sheffield in the England Indoor Combined Events Championships over the weekend. Bryant was the most successful of the duo taking the bronze medal in the under-20 age group. George produced a new PB in the shot but still had to settle for eighth place in the senior mens category.
