WINDSOR, Slough, Eton & Hounslow showed their strength at the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Cross Country Championships at Braywick on Saturday.
The wind and rain caused havoc and despite a clash with the English Schools Cross Country Cup, WSEH still produced victories in the senior mens and under-17 mens with further medals added in the under-15 boys, under-13 boys and under-15 girls events as well as a number of other top displays.
The senior mens race was a triumph for Nathan White who not only took gold in the senior category but also grabbed another gold medal as the top under-20, finishing over half a minute ahead of his chasers.
Ian May also got amongst the awards with his third place just ahead of team-mate Charlie Coleman who was fourth. The WSEH team was completed by another under-20 athlete, Rhys Glastonbury, having his first run over the country for the club and he finished in ninth place.
WSEH struggled to find athletes for the senior ladies race but Charlotte Firth was in-form as she claimed the silver medal. Diane Barac claimed 31st but that was good enough for gold in the under-20 section.
With several of their top athletes contesting the schools event the under-17s did brillinatly to successfully defend their title. Nathan Ditton took the silver award with Alex Goodall the bronze. Shane Streeter, in only his second run for the club, completed the team scoring in 12th place.
