STRONG running from Ricky Harvie helped inspire Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow to a promising start in the Apex Sports Chiltern Cross Country League series on Saturday in Oxford.

There were some good performances across the board from WSEH athletesas the club finished fourth in the Division One section.

The highlight coming from the under-15 boys where Harvie was the runaway winner with Callum Todd in third place as they triumphed in the team event. They were well backed up by Kieran Wye and Jack Rowe.

In the senior mens race, the WSEH team only had eight runners with 10 required for a scoring team but there were impressive indiviual performances from Steve Kimber who finished seventh in 31 minutes 33 seconds and Ian May who was 19th.

The under-20s mens saw a fine second for WSEH and the under-17s were also runners-up thanks to good runs from Nathan Ditton, Elliott Woolmer, Alex Goodall and Rikki Letch.

Once again WSEH have some good athletes in the under-13s and the best of the bunch proved to be Gus Cockle who was third and sprinter Giles Robinson showed that he has a stamina base as well, finishing in 13th as the team finished second.

Newcomer Sam Percy was the star in the under-11s with his seventh place.

WSEH were again short of athletes in the senior ladies, with just three toeing the start line. Former international, Marina Stedman (vet) was the best of the trio in eighth.

There were fourth place finishes for the ladies under17/20 with Alyssa Spitzer leading the way in 11th, the under-13s thanks to Becca Croft who finished second and the under-11s where Alex Barbour came sixth, closely followed by twins Eve and Holly Daniels.
