DAN Pembroke and Deji Tobais picked up gold medals in the Southern Inter Counties under-15 and under-20 Championships in Watford.

The Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow athletes led the medal haul last Sunday as they put in fine performances.

Both of the golds came in the under-20 Championships as Tobais won the 200m in 21.68 seconds Dan Pembroke triumphed in the javelin with a throw of 65.02m.

There were silver medals for Georgie Lamothe in the 100m in 12.47 and Steph Clitheroe in the under-15 75m hurdles in 11.57. There was also a well deserved bronze for Nasya Harvey in the under-20 hammer with a personal best of 41.19m.

Other under-15 finalists were Ruth Bourne (fourth in the 800m), Ricky Harvie (seventh in the 1,500m), Russell Waterson (ninth in the high jump) and Dan Ditton (seventh in the pole vault).

The other under-20 finalists were Tom Evans (fifth in the 200m), Cameron Lake (fourth in the high jump), Ashley Bryant (fifth in the pole vault), Charlie Smith (seventh in the pole vault), Mark White (sixth in the hammer) and Grant Fuller (fourth in the javelin).

Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow travel to Birmingham on Sunday, September 6 to defend their National Young Athletes league title.

Their opponents include Blackheath & Bromley AC, Enfield & Haringey AC, Preston Harriers, Sale Manchester AC, Birchfield Harriers, Rugby & Northampton AC and Edinburgh AC.

But disappointingly a fixture clash with the UK Schools Youth Games robs WSEH of five top athletes - Rikki Letch (800m), Sam Maguire (80m hurdles), Ryan Barrett (discus), Leah Barrow (300m) and Lara Burke (300m hurdles).
