ANOTHER substantial win by Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow ladies in Saturday's Southern League match has stretched their lead in the race for the Premier Division trophy.

WSEH are now 19.5 points ahead of local rivals, Reading with Basildon a further 42 points behind the champions in third.

With most of the club's senior jumpers and throwers attending the lucrative Jumps & Throws Fest, Saturday's victory was truly significant as it proved the depth of talent and immense team commitment.

That commitment was evident in the number of under-17 athletes competing in the senior team, lead by Letisha Richardson and Sarah Phelps, who selflessly did the maximum of three events each.

Elsewhere, under-17, Georgia Taylor, took the 300m hurdles with a huge margin, Charlotte Banks was runner up in the 'A' string 80m hurdles and Rachel Westbrook and Lily Guerin gained valuable points when they stepped in to cover the senior 100m hurdles.

On the field, Jo Botwright (under-20) and Kathryn Wallace (under-17) rose to the challenge of senior competition in the discus and hammer, whilst senior, Abigail Jones gamely added javelin to shot, her key event.

The senior sprints were dominated by Chinedu Monye, who continues her campaign of return to top flight athletics after over two years off due to injury.

A delighted Monye gained substantial victories in 100 and 200m in season best times and anchored both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays to two more wins.

Monye's training partner, Michelle Warren was delighted with her fifth successive personal best in the 400m in as many competitive outings and looks set to break through the 60 second barrier before this season is out.

Elsewhere in the senior track team, Martha Reynolds and Rachel Stedman gained two first places in the 800m and Marina Stedman and Leigh James won both the 3K races. James went on to partner Yolanda Edwards for two second places in the 1,500m. Her partner in the one lap race, master, Mary Edwards also seems to regaining some of the form that she is used to.

It was business as usual for Carline Heaney as she took the 'A' 400m hurdles, whilst her partner, Paula Hing bravely contested the 'B' race, despite being troubled by a niggling knee problem.

The girl's team were equally impressive and amassed a huge number of wins across both track and field.

Here, the charge was led by Demi Barrance, who competed in the three event maximum and was victorious in the high jump and 75m hurdles and runner-up in the shot. Gabriela Zivanovic followed this example, with first place in the girls javelin and shot and second in the discus.

The prowess of this young team continued to dominate the girl's events. There was a clean sweep of the middle distance races carried out by Joanne Fallon and Christina Hall, 800m winners and Emma Croft and Rosie Adams in the 1,500m, with Fallon and Croft achieving personal bests in their respective races.

WSEH maintained a similar domination of the under-15 sprints, in which Olivia Ceasar and Steph Clitheroe won both the 200m races and Ceasar along with new signing, Holly Reed did the one-two in the 100.

The young sprinters were not so successful in their 4x100 relay. Usually the crowning glory of matches, the youngsters had increasing trouble with the three baton changes, culminating with a late change and disqualification on the last change.
