BURNHAM have suffered back-to-back defeats in Division Two of the Home Counties Premier Cricket League for the first time this season after a four-wicket loss to Amersham on Saturday.

Burnham

were beaten at Harefield the week before and this most recent defeat sees them drop to eighth position in the league table.

Amersham won the coin toss and elected to field first at The Memorial Ground, with their hosts making 119 runs all out from 51.2 overs.

Number nine Sulaiman Javed finished unbeaten with 35 runs from 68 balls, with four boundaries.

Karan Kumar made 17, Raza Ali Dar 14 and Adnan Shabbir 12.

Stuart Rogers was the best of the Amersham bowlers with his figures of 3-16 from 10 overs, which included the wickets of Ali Dar and Shabbir.

Maduka Liyanapathiranage backed up Rogers with figures of 3-35 from 18.2 overs, while Joseph Rance took opening batsman Fahad Raja (1) in his 2-18 from eight overs.

The visitors reached 121-6 from 38 overs in response for only their second win in six matches this season.

Opening batsman Bruce Friderichs was the leading runs scorer with 39 from 64 balls, with six boundaries.

Number three Max Maciver made 19 and the pair put on 56 runs for the second wicket, before Liyanapathiranage added 28 batting at number five.

Farhaan Khan was the pick of the Burnham bowlers with his figures of 2-27 from eight overs, which included the wicket of captain Andrew Viney for 16.

Ali Dar took the wickets of Liyanapathiranage and opening batsman Paul Langley (7) in his 2-44 from 16 overs.

Burnham will bid for a return to winning form with a trip to third-in-the-table Oxford Downs this Saturday (11.30am start).

Slough are still looking for a first away win in Division One this season following a 53-run defeat at Tring Park on Saturday.
