COOKHAM Dean made it three Premier Division wins from four as they ended visitors Wraysbury Village’s unbeaten start to the season with an impressive 2-0 victory on Wednesday night.

Jordan Brown nearly put the home side in front with a good strike just three minutes into the game, with Ian Henry then putting a chance created by Brown just over the cross bar.

It did not take long for Cookham to go in front, though, with Laurence Henry setting up Jack Alder to put his side in front.

Ian Henry and Alder both went close to doubling the advantage, but Wraysbury battled back to gain a foothold in the game.

The hosts, however, continued to look threatening, and Adeen But struck a fierce shot which was well saved before Alder set-up Ian Henry, only for the striker to shoot over the bar.

Cookham Dean upped their efforts at the start of the second half, though Ian Henry and Butt both wasted good chances by firing wide.

Wraysbury struck the post before Cookham made it 2-0, Joe Newman taking advantage of a poor clearance to tuck the ball into the corner on 65 minutes.

Josh Waldron and Jack Woodbridge could both have added to Cookham’s tally, although home goalkeeper Richard Ball was forced into action as he sought to preserve a clean sheet late on.

Cookham Dean had previously dropped their first points of the campaign last Saturday, giving away the lead in a 1-1 draw at home to Berks County.

Nathan Lishman had put the hosts in front at half time, but Ebenezer Opoku-Ware’s equaliser meant the sides had to settle for a point apiece.

Newly-promoted Richings Park continue to find the going tough, now sitting bottom of the table and pointless after four games.

They went down to a 4-0 home defeat to Marlow United on Wednesday, Chris Hurst converting two penalties for the second game in a row as Qwamani Thomas and Gary Homes also hit the target.

Park had previously put in a brave effort against back-to-back champions Reading YMCA, although they were ultimately beaten 1-0 thanks to a goal from the prolific Ryan Adams (pictured).
