THE FARNHAM Royal Under 11 squad went on the short journey to Reading for their annual festival where many local sides converged.

Teams within the age group included Reading, Reading Abbey, Redingensians, Bracknell, Maidenhead, Newbury and Tadley.

Farnham made a winning start against the hosts and then beat Reading Abbey, before losing out narrowly to the very well-drilled sides of Maidenhead and Redingensians. Farnham then finished with a win against Tadley.

In their three victories Royals kept their opponents scoreless, which was very pleasing to the coaching staff.

Overall, it was a great start for the boys who played with pride for themselves and the team.

It was the first time they have played with contested hooking plus kicking to start the match and in general play, which opened up the game a lot. The team must be congratulated on their open play.
