George Green Juniors have held a fun day to raise funds for a defibrillator for use within the community of Wexham Parish Council and the football club.
With sudden cardiac arrests happening more often in sports and the importance of having a defibrillator available to the community, hopefully more lives can be saved.
The football club, recent winners of FA Charter Standard Club of the Year, held the fun day with activities including, bouncy castle, beat the goalie, sumo wrestling, fastest shot and soak the coaches.
Club secretary Stephen Hale said: “As a club we felt we wanted to give something back to the community to thank them for making us welcome since we formed in June 2015.
“We felt the best way of doing this was to raise funds for a defibrillator to assist the community and the club.”
Hale handed the defibrillator over to Parish Council Chairman, Geoff Spring, where it will live on the wall of Harvey Memorial Recreation Ground.
This way it will be available if there was a cardiac arrest and when 999 is called the ambulance service will know there is a defibrillator nearby.
Hale, who works for the London Ambulance Service and also teaches first aid for The Football Association, will be holding sessions for the community to show how to use the defibrillator and teach CPR.
