WSEH Athletics Club star Sarah Chapman celebrated her first GB international vest with a superb fourth place in a cross country competition in Spain.

Chapman was named in the England junior women’s team for the Juan Muguerza International Cross Country in Elgoibar, Spain.

In another track international in Spain, Morgan Lake scooped gold in the 60m hurdles (8.63 secs) and the long jump (5.89m).

The British Universities Indoor Championships in Sheffield added to the medal tally. Zac Curran won the 800m in an excellent 1:50.15.

There was a second place for Olivia Caesar in the 400m with 54.33secs, and Cammelia Hayes took the bronze award in the high jump with 1.66m.

Jacob Paul was just out of the medal hunt with his fourth place in the 400m with a personal best of 48.39secs.

Other WSEH finalists were Amber Try, fifth in the pole vault with 3.50m, and Sarah Melbourne, sixth in the shot with 11.37m.

Over at the Southern Masters Indoor Championships at Lee Valley, Chris Mills was the Vet 40 pole vault winner with 4.20m.

Athletes from the WSEH lower age groups were out in force for the South of England Cross Country Championships in Hampstead Heath on Saturday, but it was a disappointing response amongst the senior men.

The top result came in the U20 ladies race where Felicity Johnson claimed fourth place. She was followed by Alex Barbour in eighth.
