JANDREE Coetzee hammered 51 in Finchampstead’s his side’s all-out total of 185 and then the South African took 5-34 to blast out Burnham for 90.

Yet Saturday’s game at Taplow Common Road against the Home Counties Premier League Division One leaders saw Burnham make a promising start when Muhammad Haroon bowled Matt Jones for a duck with his third delivery.

Three of the top four batsmen managed to get starts reach 20, but some excellent bowling by Aftab Khan saw the visitors in deep trouble at 92-7.

However, Finchampstead boast a lengthy batting order and Coetzee and Matt Carter decided to blast their side out of trouble and they added 59 before Carter was dismissed for 41, which came off only 44 balls.

The last two wickets added 34 runs with Coetzee the last man out, bowled by Sulaiman Javed for an entertaining 51 off 55 balls.

Khan, who was skippering the side, finished with 5-50 off 18 overs, taking his season’s tally to 20 wickets.

Haroon was rather expensive at 2-70 off 15 overs, but he remains the second highest wicket-taker in Division One with 24 victims from 10 matches.

The other wicket takers were Adnan Shabbir (1-17 (off five), Javed (1-22 off 5.1) and Raminder Singh (1-27 off 7).

When Burnham replied, they hit immediate trouble as Raja Rehman was bowled by Coetzee for five and Sajid Ali was trapped lbw by the same bowler for a duck, leaving the visitors reeling at 11-2.

Khan (27) struck six fours, only to be stumped off Jon Dewes to leave Burnham on 48-3 and Fahad Raja’s (16) resistance came to an end when he fell to Coetzee for 16, having faced 51 balls.

The middle-order fell apart as Dewes took 5-25 off seven, while Coetzee finished with 5-34 from 12.2 as the league’s top bowler took his cumulative figures to 31-163 from seven matches.

Burnham were skittled out for a disappointing total of 90 in the 25th over.

They lie seventh in the table on 98 points, with their 50-point penalty points denying them third place, but it is understood the club are appealing against that deduction.

This Saturday, Burnham visit Henley and the spotlight will be on both sides following their acrimonious meeting at Taplow Common Road in May which led to Burnham being penalised 100 points (half of them suspended), while Mo Fazal received an eight-match ban for threatening behaviour, while the aftermath saw skipper Harveer Gandam suspended for three games.

Burnham Seconds had the better of a draw with Beaconsfield in Thames Valley League Division 2b.

They were bowled out for 231 with openers Normi Nadeem making 61 and Omar Siddique 36, while tail-enders Roseum Samuel and Mohammed Asif contributed 28 and 25 respectively. Beaconsfield replied with 208-8 with Waqar Ahmed taking 6-66 off 16 overs.

Burnham drop to eighth in the table, 18 points ahead of second-bottom Beaconsfield.

In Division 4a, Adnan Javid and Nasir Baig both made 43 in Burnham Thirds’ 233-9 as they drew with Chesham Thirds 261-9, in which Rahul Mohindru took 4-116.

Burnham Fourths had an excellent seven-wicket win over Eastcote Fourths in Division 6a.

Replying to the home side’s 258-7, they reached their target in the 45th over with Aman Sangha making 95 not out, Sonu Kumar 80 and Taj Heer 46 not out.
