THIS Girl Can marathon runner Louise Remenyi has started a blog her thoughts in the lead up to the 2016 London Marathon.

Back in October, Get Berkshire Active and OK Our Kids teamed up to offer one lucky lady a place on the London Marathon.

The competition was part of a range of This Girl Can projects that Get Berkshire Active has been working on since the start of 2015.

This Girl Can is a national campaign designed to celebrate active women of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities.

After the application process, a ‘fantastic four’ were shortlisted and support from Decathlon, RunFit UK and Vikki Roberts Personal Training helped the quartet through their initial weeks of training.

In November, following eight weeks of training and after submitting a final plea for the London Marathon spot, Get Berkshire Active chose Reading-based Louise Remenyi as their nominated runner.

Remenyi, 26, is now blogging throughout her training journey in the lead up to the London Marathon, proving that if This Girl Can, you can too.

In her most recent blog, the volunteer hospital radio presenter, explained: “Without hesitation I’ve accepted the place on the London Marathon.

“The past two months of training have taken me from being unable to run any distance at all to being able to complete 5km (around 3.1 miles) in 40 minutes.

“Now this is literally miles off what the London Marathon will be, but the progress I have already made is just proof that I’m able and I’ve full confidence that I will be able to do it come April.”

As well as proving that this girl can run a marathon, Remenyi Louise is also helping to fundraise ing for the two charities that have offered her this spot: Get Berkshire Active and OK Our Kids.

Get Berkshire Active works to get more people active, enjoying the benefits of more sport and physical activity.

OK Our Kids helps found children to deal confidently with the challenges and dangers of staying safe at home, school and in the community.
