MAIDENHEAD United saw their winless run stretch to eight matches in all competitions after a 2-2 home draw with Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday.

As early as the eighth minute a Dave Tarpey cross from the right was met by a flicked header from Ben Wright, who was clearly delighted to score against his former club.

Midway through the first half, a Christian Smith header put through Tarpey on the right and his teasing cross was deflected into the net by Havant keeper Ryan Young.

The away team then belied their lowly position in the National South table to fight back, putting together a neat passing move to catch the Maids defence napping. Scott Donnelly stroked the ball home.

Havant levelled the scores in the 64th minute when Ben Swallow shot from distance and the ball flew out of the reach of keeper Carl Pentney before curling into the back of the net.

Maids remain in 11th place in the table and travel to promotion-chasing Gosport Borough on Saturday (3pm).

Fixtures involving Slough Town, Burnham and Windsor were all postponed due to waterlogged pitches on Saturday.

Slough host Bedworth United in the Southern Premier Division this Saturday, whilst Burnham are away to Wantage Town in Division One South & West.

In the Combined Counties Premier Division, Windsor are away to Raynes Park Vale on Tuesday (7.45pm) and then Chertsey Town on Saturday.

Holyport host Old Woodstock Town in round two of the Supplementary Challenge Cup on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).
