SLOUGH CC began the new Home Counties Premier Cricket League Division One season with a 19-run win away at Harefield on Saturday.

Batting first, Slough reached 297 before they were bowled out with the penultimate ball of the 50-over innings.

Shahid Yousaf top scored with 99, with Berkshire star Waqas Hussain (77) and new signing Lloyd Patternot (57) both recording a half century.

Douglas King took a five-wicket haul for Harefield (5-65), though his side fell short with the bat in reply.

Harefield opener Jalpesh Vijay starred with 120 before he was trapped leg before wicket by Raja Nawaz (2-70).

Slough captain Bobby Sher led the defence with (3-50) as the home team closed on 278-9 after 50 overs.

Burnham got the new season under way with a five-wicket defeat to High Wycombe at The Memorial Ground.

Batting first, Burnham were all out for 157 with Karan Kumar (48) and captain Harveer Gandam (44) the main contributors.

Sulaiman Javed took 2-25 with the ball, and there were wickets for Azhar Ali, Aftab Khan and Gandam.

However, High Wycombe knocked off the runs with 22 balls to spare. Opener Adam Hose top scoring on 31.

Newly-promoted Datchet began their campaign in Division Two with a six-wicket win against Amersham.

Batting first at The Wally Gage Memorial Ground, Amersham were bowled out for 192, despite an unbeaten 86 from Andrew Viney.

Wickets were shared amongst the Datchet bowlers with Harry Stephens (3-40) and Steven Naylor (2-33) both successful.

In reply, Datchet reached 198-4 inside 47 overs as ex-captain Tim Alldis his 73 and new skipper Naylor finished unbeaten on 41.
