WINDSOR'S adopted boyband have made it through to The X Factor's live rounds, but will compete under a new name after being told by Sharon Osbourne it sounded 'like a virus'.

Micky Parsons' group GMD3 is named after the three boys' first initials, but the former Windsor Boys' School pupil, who lives in the town with his parents, admitted the name had not only been annoying the judges.

He said: "People keep thinking we are called GMTV. It also means we always have to stand in Greg, Mickey and Dan order and we keep forgetting so that's confusing everyone as well."

The group appealed to their growing fan base on Sunday night to email suggestions for a new name and it is expected to be revealed on Saturday's show - the first live round of the series which will include public voting.

The trio made it through after impressing Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne during the 'Judges Houses' round in Las Vegas and progressed alongside rival boyband Union J, formerly Triple J, which features Winkfield's Josh Cuthbert, 20.
