Olympic campers beaten by weather

PLANS to welcome 1,000 campers to Windsor Great Park for the Olympic Games have had to be scrapped due to torrential rain.
A unique agreement had been struck between the Campaing and Caravanning Club and the Crown Estate in February to allow the park to be used by tourists during the Games, but June and July's heavy rainfall has left the ground too wet.
Philip Everett, deputy ranger of Windsor Great Park, said: "We are fully aware of the disappointment that this will cause, however we have a duty to ensure that all visitors to Windsor Great Park have a safe and memorable experience, and we were not able to do this given the exceptional circumstances."
Campers who had pre-booked to camp in the park have been offered a full refund or help in finding a new location.
