UNAUTHORISED advertisements plastered on lamp-posts leading in to and around Windsor have been labelled as "outrageous" by a councillor.

Bay Media has applied for retrospective planning permission after hoisting 78 slogan-covered banners onto lamp-posts in roads including the A355, Datchet Road, Maidenhead Road and Sheet Street.

The company failed twice to install the unpopular banners in November and December last year.

Cllr Phill Bicknell, who sits on the Windsor Urban Development Panel which will discuss the two applications at The Guildhall, in High Street, Windsor, on Wednesday night, said: "I think it is outrageous that they have fly-postered and put the council in a position where we are having to decide whether to spend money to take the signs down or waiting for the decision to come to the panel."

Cllr Bicknell stressed he would listen to both sides of the application when it is discussed next week.
