LIQUID nightclub is teaming up with Thames Valley Positive Support to help people 'Get Gloved Up!' and keep sex safe.

The club, in William Street, is offering punters the chance to jump to the front of the queue by presenting a condom at the door and entry will be gained for free until 11.30pm.

Free chlamydia and gonorrhoea tests will be available inside and free condoms will be handed out.

Jessica Harding, funding and awareness manager at Thames Valley Positive Support, said: "We aren't there to harass or lecture anyone. Condoms will be given out as people come in to the venue and we just want to get people talking and thinking about their sexual health, whilst equipping them with some free protection and easy access to testing.

"Sexual health still seems a taboo subject that we don't really discuss. Being able to raise awareness in such an informal setting, we hope will begin to help people be more open to talking about sexual health. We are delighted that we can work in partnership with such a well known venue."

Caroline Andrews, chlamydia screening programme co-ordinator, said: "The aim of our event is to get young people to realise how important they are in looking after their own sexual health and how easy and accessible it is.

"It's always a gamble when you take a health issue into a social situation but we've found that majority of young people are really appreciative and if they get the idea that everyone else is testing those that aren't keen at first will usually become receptive to the idea."
