A FIGHT between two groups of men, who had earlier attended Royal Ascot, has led to one man being jailed for 18 months.
Daniel O'Keefe, 31, of Westcott Way, Middlesex, was found guilty of affray on Tuesday [7] after a six day trial at Reading Crown Court.
O'Keefe was involved in a brawl inside and outside of the Windlesora pub, in William Street on Friday, June 17 in which one man was attacked with a bar stool and two others assualted outside.
Insp Mark Millward, the violent crime lead for the Royal Borough, said: "This was a particularly violent and unprovoked attack which can not be blamed on alcohol but on shear thuggery.
"Had it not been for the quick and selfless intervention of door staff from the licensed premises in William Street, I am sure the incident could have been far worse.
"This sentence should act as a warning to anyone who feels they can come into Windsor and cause trouble."
PC Steve Parker, from Windsor and Maidenhead Violent Crime Team, said: "He was described as the catalyst for the violence that followed and although he himself did not knock out two of the men, they would not have been assaulted had it not been for his actions at the start of the incident."
