A MEGA-musical mind has paid off for one radio nut after bagging £1,000 live on air.
Paul Lindop, from Windsor, won Absolute Radio's breakfast show competition, £1,000 Mix Tape, hosted by DJ Christian O'Connell by successfully identifying four 'mashed-up' songs - Get it On by T-Rex, Stuck In The Middle With You by Stealer's Wheel, I Don't Like Mondays by The Boomtown Rats and More Than A Feeling by Journey.
Mr Lindop, an electrical engineer and self-confessed rock music addict, was delighted to bag the New Year bonus last month.
He said: "I love Absolute Radio and have tried to win the £1,000 mix tape loads of times.
"When I finally got through I was really nervous and had to keep myself calm to make sure I said the right song names!
"It means everything to me at the moment as my partner and I have been struggling for the last 18 months. I'm the only one working and we've got two kids."
Mr Lindop added: "People might know me locally from the rock band Subway Monkeys. I used to play bass and we had loads of gigs in pubs around Windsor, Slough, Twickenham and Dorking.
"That's why I like Absolute Radio - they don't play all that thud thud thud stuff - just proper music."
Breakfast Show presenter. Christian O'Connell, said: "Who doesn't love a mix tape? I remember creating them years ago and had one for every kind of occasion or mood.
"It's been great fun putting them together for my breakfast show and seeing how many listeners can guess the tracks. Paul obviously has excellent taste in music!"
