A MAN who was duped into handing over £270 on the promise of discounted goods, is warning others not to fall for the same trick.

Mayo Richter, 25, while at work at a hotel in High Street, Windsor, last month, was approached by an Asian man claiming to be from an off-licence offering alcohol and cigarettes for reduced prices because he was closing down.

Mr Richter, from Langley, believed the man to be genuine and handed over the cash he collected from friends and work colleagues, only for the man to do a runner.

He said: "I feel stupid. Looking back now I don't know how I fell for it. The man was very well spoken and was obviously experienced in conning people, I didn't think twice about it.

"He didn't work for the off-licence at all and was just a complete stranger. He must be moving from town to town doing this."
