DREAMS of striking Olympic gold can be made a reality at a Royal Borough business seminar next week.
The free seminar, co-ordinated with the South East England Development Agency, will address how local businesses can tackle the red-tape surrounding the London 2012 Olympics and bid for contracts to take advantage of the influx of tourists in July and August.
The rowing and canoeing events at Dorney Lake are estimated to attract 30,000 visitors a day and the Torch Relay on Tuesday, July 10, will pass through Windsor, Maidenhead, Burnham and Slough.
Royal Borough councillor Simon Dudley, cabinet member for the 2012 Games, said: "We want one of our Olympic legacies to bring good times for local businesses and through them an economic boost to the whole community. This seminar is just one way we can help make that happen.
"Businesses can come and find out the really practical stuff about bidding for contracts from the experts in a straightforward way that aims to de-mystify the process."
The seminar will feature speakers from Business to Business, the Royal Borough and Visit Britain as well as advice from companies who have already been awarded contracts.
The seminar is on Tuesday, February 7, from 10am-1pm and it is advised to book early. Contact Samantha Meakin on 0207 700 0008 or email samantha@btob.co.uk and quote Visit Britain.
