PREPARATIONS are in full swing for a festival filled with music, films and family events.

Well-known artists from around the world will be coming together for the 41st Windsor Festival from September 18 to October 3.

The jam-packed line-up includes the best of British music-making with the Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic, London Symphony and English Chamber Orchestras as well as an array of talent in the literary series including Barry Cryer, Jenny Eclair and General Sir Richard Dannatt.

Festival director, Martin Denny, said: "Our aim each year is to put together a festival to be enjoyed and embraced by all and this year's programme promises much to savour. We pride ourselves on our wide ranging plethora of performances and endeavour to put together a programme to entertain all who attend.

"We remain forever grateful to those who continue to offer their support to this unique cultural event. The Festival is a time for celebration and we believe a truly delightful way for Windsor and the surrounding area to experience the arts at the end of the summer."

The festival will be launched with a service at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle on Saturday, September 18.

Attractions will include Dungeon Wine Tasting, a gala concert at St George's Chapel, literary lunch with Phyllida Law and Arabella Weir and the Eton Boys' Concert.

Other highlights will include Ascot Family Day, Pied Piper Walk, Schools' Programme Prize-Giving, Opera Magic and Darren Shan - Master of Horror at the Theatre Royal Windsor and Life During Wartime at the Firestation Arts Centre.
