BRAVE councillors stepped in to rescue a youth after a brawl broke out at a family event in Windsor last night (Monday).
The launch of the Royal Windsor Wheel in Alexandra Gardens was gatecrashed by between 15 and 20 teenagers who allegedly attacked a young man.
Cllr Phillip Bicknell and Cllr Liam Maxwell came to the youth's aid after seeing him being kicked and punched.
Cllr Bicknell, 54, who was at the event with his wife and three-year-old child, said: "We saw this young man being kicked and punched. I stepped in as I was fearful for his life. Liam was punched and scratched but managed to restrain one of the youths.
"It was like football hooligan behaviour. It was very frightening but I don't think we thought about the danger at the time."
George Bathurst, a member of the Windsor Conservatives, who also stepped in had his glasses broken during the incident.
Police were called to the scene and an investigation is ongoing.
