New land train just the ticket for Windsor

A NEW land train will be launched in Windsor town centre next month.

The Royal Windsor Land Train, provided by PWR Events in conjunction with the Royal Borough, will be launched on Thursday, April 2.

The train will provide a much needed service for tourists, shoppers and less able visitors from the Coach Park, up to the Castle entrance and town centre shopping area.

With a commentary provided by the driver and conductor, the route runs through Alexandra Gardens, along the river, up Thames Street, past the Clock Tower, round onto Thames Avenue where it stops opposite the Guildhall, just across from the Castle Entrance. It then returns to the Coach Park.

The train seats up to 72 passengers in three carriages, including access for one wheelchair, and has been specially designed for use on the road. It will run at a relaxed pace enabling passengers to take in the town as they travel, but is capable of keeping pace with the town centre traffic.

The journey will take approximately 15 minutes each way. The train will run throughout the year in all weathers, with open sides for sunny summer days, and closed sides for windy and rainy days.

Tickets cost £2 per person one-way (under 3's free of charge) payable prior to boarding.
