PLANS to invest £30m in Legoland have been revealed today (Friday).

The proposed development for the Winkfield Road park will include a new

Legoland themed hotel, interactive rides and a sea acquarium.

Vicky Brown, General Manager for Legoland, said: "At a time of economic uncertainty, we are delighted to be able to announce these exciting plans for the future prosperity of LEGOLAND Windsor. We are fortunate enough to have the full support of our parent company Merlin Entertainments who are continuing to invest even in these difficult times, and now, at this early stage in the process, we are pleased to be able to share our broad aspirations with our neighbours and seek their comments."

Residents are invited to a public exhibition to outline plans for the theme park over the next five to 10 years at St Leonard's Mansion House in the park, from Thursday (05/03) to Sunday (08/03).

Potential hotel sites are currently being assessed for the proposed hotel, scheduled for 2012, and the park is now seeking comments from residents.

Vicky Brown added: "An increasing number of our visitors want to extend their stay in LEGOLAND Windsor beyond one day and immerse themselves further into the LEGOLAND experience. Hotels are already a familiar feature in many theme parks. A LEGOLAND themed hotel is completely unique and provides the ultimate 'sleepover' for guests."

Local people and businesses are set to benefit both directly and indirectly from the £30 million planned on new developments, from the provision of goods and services to the Park and its guests. Approximately 11 new attractions are planned for the site in a bid to ensure its continued future success including a new family coaster scheduled for 2011.

Plans are expected to be submitted to the Royal Borough this summer. The exhibition will be open from 11am to 6pm on Thursday, 4.30pm tp 8pm on Friday, 10am to 3pm on Saturday and 10am to 2pm on Sunday.
